Engagement Rate
The percentage of your audience that interacts with your content through likes, comments, saves and shares.
Engagement rate measures how actively your audience interacts with your content, usually calculated as (total interactions ÷ followers) × 100. Interactions typically include likes, comments, saves and shares.
It’s widely considered the single most important social media metric because it reflects audience quality, not just size. A small, highly engaged audience often delivers more reach and value than a large, passive one — which is why brands and algorithms reward it.
A rough Instagram benchmark: under 1% is low, 1–3.5% is average, and above 3.5% is strong.
