Click-Through Rate (CTR)
The percentage of people who clicked a link, thumbnail or call to action out of everyone who saw it.
Click-through rate (CTR) is the share of viewers who took the click you wanted — on a link, a thumbnail, a profile or a call to action — calculated as (clicks ÷ impressions) × 100.
On YouTube, thumbnail-and-title CTR is one of the most important signals: a higher CTR tells the platform people want to watch, earning more distribution. For link-in-bio and ad campaigns, CTR shows how persuasive your hook and offer are.
To improve CTR: make the promise specific and compelling, reduce friction, and match the click target to what the viewer expects.
