A niche is the focused topic and audience an account is built around — for example “budget vegan recipes” rather than simply “food.”
A clear niche is one of the strongest growth levers there is. It makes your account legible: a new visitor instantly understands who it’s for and why to follow. It also helps the algorithm categorise and recommend your content to the right people, and it makes you more valuable to brands targeting that audience.
